Demotivation

Do you ever get that feeling that you need a constant reminder that you're in despair? Or that you know there is something pathetic in your life? Well don't worry, Despair, Inc. has just the thing for you: Demotivators. Quote the founder: "Whether you're a pessimist, underachiever or a chronic failure, I personally offer my unconditional* guarantee that Demotivators? will truly inspire you to new lows!". I'll bet they make great gifts. Man, what will the think of next!?!? [...]

Exclusive Diversity

Yet another pesky double standard in uber-liberal Ann Arbor gets the verdict from a judge. At the city's largest public high school, a so called "Diversity Week" in 2002 excluded a student with a dissenting opinion to participate in a forum, sparking a lawsuit. Recently, a federal judge criticized the school and compared their actions to Nazi Germany. A final ruling is expected in a week. Here's the thing that I find interesting. The school district allowed the Gay-Straight Alliance to hold a forum [...]

Opus Returns

Since I subscribe to the Detroit News as well as Ann Arbor, I get all the sunday inserts in saturday's edition of the Detroit News - including the comics. I was pretty shocked to see Opus has returned. I find it hard to beleive he's been gone for 10 whole years! Of course, I never liked the comic strip to being with, but it seems to be making some big headlines. Well if you enjoyed it then, it apparently has changed. It'll be interesting [...]

Third Grade Recollection

In third grade the students in my class had to participate in a weekly "Show and Tell", which is not uncommon for many elementary schools. There was one Argentine girl (C. W.) in my class who was undebatably the nicest and most decent child in our entire grade. She brought in a small glass ornament to show. I'm not exactly sure if it was a family heirloom, but it was something very unique and important to her parents. She was standing and showing it [...]

Last Few Days

Well the last few days have been quite interesting. I won't go into detail since the people who should know, already do. Anyways, I've been shocked, surprised, and impressed by certain people. (Props to the mysterious figure at my door - and the accomplice.) ... Of course in other things I've also been confused, frustrated and overwhelmed. Not to fret, I'm feeling good now (a little elated in fact). Work, school, projects, fun, birthdays ... life just happens, and I hate playing catch-up. [...]

Civic Responsibility

I thought I might mention that I just voted. It was just three issues on the ballot, but one of them has really been a devisive issue for Ann Arbor. So anyways, if you haven't voted, you might as well do so. Someone once said to me: "don't complain if you didn't vote". I guess people are quick to criticize but slow to participate. When apathy runs rampant, what can you do? [...]
